Shared hosting puts your site on a server with many others. That is fine, and for most business websites it stays fine forever. You outgrow it for one of three reasons: your traffic is genuinely large, your application needs software the host will not install, or you need root access to configure something yourself.
A virtual private server gives you a guaranteed slice of a machine with full root access. A dedicated server gives you the whole machine. Both are a real step up in responsibility as well as capability — an unmanaged server is yours to patch, secure and monitor, and a neglected one becomes somebody else’s spam relay within months.
We would rather talk to you before you buy one of these. If your site is slow, the cause is more often an unoptimised database or a bloated theme than a shortage of server, and moving a slow site to a bigger machine usually just produces an expensive slow site.

How do I know if I need a VPS?
You usually do not. Move up when your host tells you that you are exceeding shared limits, when you need software they will not install, or when you need root access. A slow site is more often a code or database problem than a server problem.
Managed or unmanaged?
Unmanaged means you patch, secure and monitor it yourself. If nobody on your side does that regularly, take a managed plan or stay on shared hosting — a neglected server becomes a security problem for everyone.
Can you migrate my existing site?
Usually yes. Tell us what is running now and we will scope it honestly, including whether the move is worth doing at all.
How is it billed?
