.site is deliberately generic, and that is its use. When the .in, .com and .co.in versions of a common name are all registered, .site frequently still has the clean version — no hyphens, no abbreviations, no digits.

It works best for portfolios, personal pages, small brochure sites and internal or staging projects, where the address needs to be sayable rather than persuasive. A photographer, an architect or a freelance developer can put their name on it and be done.

Because it carries no meaning, it also carries no misleading promise, which is more than can be said for some new extensions. Renewal is ₹1,799 a year after a ₹299 first year, so as always, check the two-year number against a .in before you decide.
